Admissions Arrangements

Trinity Academy Richmond Primary & Nursery School is part of the Dales Academies Trust and is located in North Yorkshire. Children are admitted into school in accordance with North Yorkshire County Council admissions arrangements which are published on the County Council website here.  You can find further information about our admissions here.

Attendance

We believe attendance and punctuality are essential, both as a common courtesy to prevent disturbing other pupils and in developing good work habits.  Children cannot learn if they are absent, and lateness can lead to vital elements of explanation being missed.  Our aim is to emphasise the importance of this to the whole school community through good time-keeping in all areas of school life and by regular reminders and praise for those displaying high standards.

Behaviour Policy

It is our policy that all pupils should have the right to clear guidelines regarding behaviour and the opportunity to be part of a caring and respectful learning community. Pupils have a right to be happy and our policy has the following key Christian Values at its heart: peace, forgiveness, justice and respect.

Charging & Remissions Policy

Trinity Academy Richmond believes that all our pupils should have an equal opportunity to benefit from school activities and visits (curricular and extra curricular) independent of their parents’ financial means. This charging and remissions policy describes how we will do our best to ensure a good range of visits and activities is offered and, at the same time, try to minimise the financial barriers which may prevent some pupils taking full advantage of the opportunities.

Collective Worship

As a Church of England School, we carry out a daily act of Collective Worship in accordance with the Trust Deed and the broad traditions of Anglicanism.  We endeavour to make our Acts of Worship relevant to the background, age and experience of our pupils. We acknowledge and celebrate that each child is unique provide children with a highly inclusive environment.

Our chosen values which include: peace, happiness, koinonia, compassion, reverence, endurance and friendship permeate every aspect of school life and contribute to outstanding behaviour and high academic standards.

At Trinity Academy Richmond, we provide a rich and varied Collective Worship experience that allows children to develop their spirituality. Complaints Procedure

It is in everyone’s interest that complaints are resolved at the earliest possible stage. Many issues can be resolved informally, without the need to invoke formal procedures. As a school we take informal concerns seriously and make every effort to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.

There are occasions when complainants would like to raise their concerns formally. In these cases, the school’s formal procedure should be invoked.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is ambitious and designed to meet the diverse needs of the children who attend Trinity Academy Richmond.  It aims to provide all pupils with the knowledge, skills and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.

Our core aims are to provide a curriculum that builds on pupils’ individual talents and uniqueness and empowers our children to be:

• independent
• perseverant
• respectful

We believe that these are the three gifts that we would like to give our pupils help them to succeed as life-long learners and children of God.  The ‘giving’ of these gifts are what drive the curriculum at Trinity Academy Richmond.

OFSTED & SIAMS Reports

OFSTED is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They report directly to Parliament and are responsible for inspecting and regulating schools, pre-schools, nurseries, and any services caring for children and young people, as well as those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

SIAMS inspection focuses on the impact of the Church school’s Christian vision on pupils and adults. This involves looking at the school’s Christian vision, the provision the school makes because of this vision and how effective this provision is in enabling all pupils to flourish.

Pupil Premium

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) catch-up premium

Children and young people across the country have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19). Those from the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds will be among those hardest hit. The aggregate impact of lost time in education will be substantial, and the scale of our response must match the scale of the challenge.

Reading & Phonics

Here at Trinity Academy Richmond we use the synthetics phonics programme ‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised’.   Children begin phonics on day one in our Nursery and Reception Classes and are taught daily in small groups. Alongside the groups, teachers will refer to the phonics programme throughout the day. Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy

The Governing Body of Trinity Academy Richmond takes its responsibility under section 11 of the Children Act and duties under “working together” to safeguard and promote the welfare of children very seriously. We work together with other agencies to ensure adequate arrangements exist within our setting to identify and support those children who are suffering harm or are likely to suffer harm.  Please read our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy by visiting our Safeguarding information page.

School Uniform

It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos and promotes equality, positive behaviour, standards and safety.

Our policy is based on the belief that a school uniform:

• promotes a sense of pride in the school
• engenders a feeling of belonging
• is practical and sensible
• identifies the children within the school
• is not distracting in the learning environment (as fashion clothing and accessories can be)
• makes children feel equal to one another in terms of appearance
• is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents

School Opening Hours

Compulsory timings EYFS and Key Stage 1

08:50 to 15:10 = 31.75 hours per week.

Compulsory timings Key Stage 2

08:50 to 15:20 = 32.5 hours per week.

Daily on-site breakfast club (07:50 to 08:50) and after school club (15:15-17:30) is available.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) & Disability Information

At Trinity Academy Richmond we  are committed to developing cultures, policies and practices that are inclusive.

We have systems to identify when children have barriers affecting their learning and tailor specific interventions to enable pupils to overcome their barriers.
