Early Years Leader: Miss Grainger

A warm welcome to Trinity Academy Richmond Early Years Foundation Stage.

Underpinned by our school vision, our EYFS philosophy is that every individual is encouraged, nurtured and supported to believe in themselves and each other by working hard, having pride in their work and achieving their dreams. This is achieved through an appropriate range of experiences, an engaging and progressive curriculum and enhanced by meaningful play.

‘If children feel safe they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn to trust, share their feelings and grow.’ A.Kohn

In our setting, the children are at the heart of everything we do and our enthusiastic and dedicated foundation stage team excite children with the stimulus of play that is led by an ambitious curriculum model. Using the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework, we have developed a progressive curriculum for our 2 year olds, Nursery children and Reception children. Each year group has a key worker and learning opportunities develop as the children grow. There is a mix of adult-initiated and child-initiated learning opportunities where staff skilfully support children to achieve their learning objectives.

‘Play is our brains favourite way of learning’  D.Ackerman.

Learning is based on a wide range of opportunities both within school and beyond, which help the children to grow academically, spiritually and emotionally. We aim in the foundation stage to plant the seeds to help underpin the Christian values of the school: Respect, Perseverance and Trust.

We believe that early childhood education provides the essential foundation for all future learning.  Above all, we look to nurture self-confidence, inspire imaginations and create capable and independent learners to help prepare children for a positive and happy transition to the next step in their school life.
